Benefits
Improved Operation of the Pulverizer
The MagMill
· Will reduce wear in the pulverizer and in all equipment touched by coal downstream of the pulverizer
· Will reduce power draw by the pulverizer
· Will deliver a better quality fuel to the furnace
· Will increase the output of the pulverizer
Reduction of Ash
The MagMill
· Will increase the capacity of an existing ESP
· Will reduce slagging in furnace and superheater
· Will reduce amount of ash for deposition
· Will reduce amount of popcorn ash generated
Removal of Sulfur
The MagMill
· With an existing FGD, will reduce amount of chemicals needed to meet SO2 emission requirement
· With no FGD in place, will reduce capital cost of the FGD needed and reduce the amount of chemicals needed
· Will increase the amount of SO2 credits received
· Will lower the FGD sludge disposal cost
· Will allow for deeper staging to reduce NOx generation
· Will reduce tube wastage and unit down time
Removal of Trace Metals
The MagMill
· Will lower cost of post-combustion mercury removal
· Will increase the life of SCR catalysts
· With an existing ACI, will reduce amount of activated carbon needed to meet the mercury emission requirement
· With no ACI in place, will reduce capital cost of the ACI needed and reduce the amount of activated carbon needed
· Will increase the amount of Hg credits received
Combined with NalcoMobotec’s FSI (furnace sorbent injection) to Reduce SO2
· The MagMill has removed up to 50% of the sulfur before combustion
· FSI will remove 60% of the SO2 in the flue gas by limestone injection
· Combination can result in over 70% of the SO2 removed without the capital and operating costs associated with FGD
Combined with NalcoMobotec’s Mercury Control Technologies
· The MagMill has removed up to 50% of the mercury before combustion
· NalcoMobotec's mercury control technologies will remove 85% of the mercury in the flue gas by sorbent injection
· Combination can result in over 90% of the mercury removed without the capital and operating costs associated with SCR and ACI
