Pulverizer Sampling

All the major types of pulverizers have been sampled, including this CE Raymond 633 mill in a power plant located in north central Pennsylvania.  During the sampling process, material was extracted from the mills and taken to EXPORTech's facilities for magnetic separation.

The table below illustrates the quality of material extracted from the mill and rejected from the magnetic separator.  The Feed material is that fed to the mill, Mill Reject is the material extracted from the mill, and MS Reject is the material rejected from the magnetic separator.  The MS Reject material does not go on to the burner.  The Lower Kittanning coal is a raw coal from north central Pennsylvania, the cleaned Pittsburgh seam coal is from southwest Pennsylvania, and the blend of raw and cleaned Pittsburgh coal is from northern West Virginia.  Note the difference in the HGI of the feed and the MS Reject of the blend.
